Designates all alloys and metals produced at USSM other than stainless steels and precipitation hardenable stainless steels. Categories of special metals would include nickel,nickel base alloys,cobalt base alloys,titanium and titanium base alloys,glass sealing alloys (iron-nickle),etc.
