CHECK VALVE
A check valve is a mechanical device that controls the flow of a liquid or gas through a piping system in only one direction. A check valve is often used to ensure the when the pressure forcing a fluid or gas through the pipe is relieved, the flow does not back up beyond a certain point - the location of the check valve.
