Monel refers to a family of nickel alloys where copper is usually the second of the primary metals in the alloy. Monel is highly resistant to corrosion and is very popular in marine applications and piping systems. Monel work-hardens very quickly, resulting in an alloy that is very difficult to manufacture. The term Monel is a registered trademark of Special Metals Corporation.
