NewElec’s MA electronic motor control and protection relay can be used as a standalone relay or as part of an automated process communicating to a PLC. Designed for advanced motor protection, the MA’s base unit is complete with integrated CTMBs and CBCTs from 0.5 to 250 A. Individual fault status indication is provided by LEDs for easy diagnostics.
Temperature measurement of the motor winding can be measured utilising three PTC100 sets of sensors. The expansion module can plug into the basic unit and caters for Profibus DPV 1, Modbus RTU and CANbus communication modules.
The MA motor control relay is equipped with five digital inputs accepting field supply voltages from 24 to 220 V A.C. or D.C. and four potential free C/O contacts, two of which are programmable. Thermal curves (Class 3 to 35), to IEC 60255-8, earth leakage, earth fault, short circuit, load loss, over- and under-voltage protection, as well as voltage symmetry are all provided by the MA relay.
Protection is provided against thermal overloads, locked rotor and running stall / jam protection. The MA also protects against short circuit faults and automatically takes care of trip co-ordination so that the main contactor is not used to disrupt high-energy faults.
Extremely user-friendly, the MA’s LEDs are mounted on the control panel to aid maintenance personnel. The door-mounted MMI display unit edits set values, as well as monitors actual values and event / fault records.The NewElec software, which is included, has a recording utility that stores the last four faults with time and date stamping.
