BEIJING, China. (NOVEMBER 08, 2011) – Cummins Emission Solutions, a division of Cummins Inc., announced today that it is in the advanced development stages of a new urea dosing system – the EcoFit™ Urea Dosing System. This new aftertreatment product innovation is designed to meet upcoming emission regulations in China, India, and Russia. The EcoFit™ Urea Dosing System was introduced at a customer appreciation event in Beijing, with nearly 100 customers in attendance.
Cummins Emission Solutions also introduced the EcoFit™ brand, which will represent all Cummins Emission Solutions global aftertreatment products and solutions. EcoFit™ symbolizes clean emission solutions that leverage innovative technology, customized to fit different engines and applications.
“I’m thrilled to officially announce the latest product innovation for Cummins Emission Solutions,” said Zach Gillen, General Manager of the Engineered Components business at Cummins Emission Solutions. “Our global development team has done a terrific job balancing the need for lower cost of ownership with technology that meets future emission standards.”
The EcoFit™ Urea Dosing System is being developed by Cummins Emission Solutions for use in Light-duty, MidRange and Heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Leveraging the engineering capabilities of Cummins with an innovative approach to aftertreatment solutions, the EcoFit™ Urea Dosing System will easily integrate into existing engine and aftertreatment systems, while improving system robustness and fuel economy.
Localized Support
The EcoFit™ Urea Dosing System will be manufactured at the Cummins Emission Solutions facility in Beijing and will be supported by a global technical organization, which has a significant presence in Beijing.
“With a local development and manufacturing presence, we are able to better understand our customers’ needs and customize our products to develop the most effective aftertreatment solutions in the market,” said Ivan Lok, General Manager – Cummins Emission Solutions China. “In addition, customers are able to leverage the full power of the Cummins global service network wherever they need support.”
EcoFit™ Aftertreatment Solutions
EcoFitTM aftertreatment solutions are being designed to monitor, control, and diagnose engine and aftertreatment systems in a way that reduces emissions while optimizing performance of the entire engine and vehicle system. EcoFit™ products will achieve a lower overall cost of ownership, which will allow customers to differentiate from the competition through improved vehicle integration.
EcoFit™ Urea Dosing System Offers Better Fuel Economy, Smaller Package Size
The EcoFit™ Urea Dosing System is a reductant delivery system that injects a solution of 32.5% urea and 67.5% de-ionized water, also known as Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) or AdBlue™, into the exhaust stream. Offering system integration opportunities unparalleled by existing Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems, the EcoFit™ Urea Dosing System delivers improved Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) conversion efficiency which gives customers the opportunity to tune engines for improved fuel economy or to reduce the size of a typical SCR system. The system is also designed to minimize the risk of urea deposits, increasing the durability and reliability of the aftertreatment system.
