In 2012, a subsidiary of the German Babcock Borsig Steinmüller Group won a contract for two HRSG boilers (Heat Recovery Steam Generators) for the Russian power plant TES Polyarnaya.
In addition to the extreme conditions in Siberia and the comprehensive quality and documentation requirements of the power industry, all partial sub-works had to satisfy the requirements of the TR.
The expertise of recent decades made possible an optimum plant design for these conditions, allowing sera and its partner in the Czech Republic (Hennlich s.r.o.) to be selected as the manufacturer of the dosing systems for the boiler feed water treatment of Bilfinger Babcock CZ s.r.o..
sera delivered two preparation- and dosing stations for caustic soda (NaOH), as well as a preparation- and dosing station for aqueous ammonia (NH4OH). Caustic soda is used to raise the pH level in the area of high-pressure turbine (here: up to 140 bar), and aqueous ammonia to raise the pH in the range of the low-pressure turbine.
To prevent toxic ammonia gas from being released into the atmosphere an absorption vessel is installed, which, in contrast to air filters, does not store any hazardous waste in cartridges.
Both systems are equipped with electric agitators to ensure a homogenous chemical solution is created.
Two redundant diaphragm pumps dose the finished solution in the low and high pressure areas. Safety valves in each pump ensure optimum availability of the system.
After the detailed engineering of the systems, all the documentation for certification swiftly received confirmation that it fulfilled the requirements of the Customs Union.
After successful inspection by Bilfinger Babcock and an independent evaluator in the sera company headquarters, the equipment was packed in seaworthy crating and shipped to Siberia together with the required documents.
