State-of-the-Art Microscope

State-of-the-Art Microscope

Product News Tuesday, May 30, 2006: TCR Engineering Services

TCR Advanced Engineering adds State-of-the-Art Microscope Advanced Capabilities Supporting Metallography and Microstructure Interpretation.

Extending the capabilities of metal industry's leading material testing laboratory, TCR Advanced Engineering has acquired the Inverted Metallurgical Microscope, GX51, from Olympus Corporation, Japan with the ability to capture accurate digital photo micrographs of any user-selected area. Using this microscope and integrating with TCR's image analysis software MiC 2.0 allows experienced metallurgists at the laboratory to measure and analyze raw materials and metallographic structures.

Capabilities for optical resolution in this state-of-the-art microscope are increased with dry 1500X magnification with wide filed view. This ensures better metallurgical analysis especially in the areas of replicated microstructure judgments.

TCR Advanced Engineering has acquired the Inverted Metallurgical Microscope, GX51, from Olympus Corporation, Japan The Metallography department in the TCR Advanced Engineering laboratory has been strengthened with the addition of Inverted Metallurgical Microscope to perform Volume Fraction Measurement by point count method as per E-562 used for Duplex Steel and Carbide Morphology Distribution as per STAHL-EISEN-PRUFBLATT 1520 (SEP-1520) German chart for checking microstructure.

The measurement of Volume Fraction of Phases using the systematic Point Count Method is based on the fact that the average fraction of points which fall on grains of a particular phase is equal to the area fraction of the phase in the polished section and that the average of these area fractions is equal to the volume fraction of the phase.

TCR's team of metallurgists and material science engineers perform Carbide Morphology Distribution per SEP 1520 to determine spheroidize structure, the Amount of Perlite, Micro inclusions, Carbide network and Carbide streaks (bandings) in a given material.

TCR Advanced Engineering (Vadodara) is an associate company of TCR Engineering Services (Mumbai), a 33 year old reputed material testing, inspection and quality assurance company.

TCR Advanced Engineering laboratory facility at Vadodara specializes in the field of Metallography and the company provides services for Failure Investigations, Remaining Life Assessment, In-situ Metallography for process related equipment to determine in-service degradation, assistance in Selection of materials and expert consultation on heat treatment, engineering and material science related subjects.
