Dymot Construction Winches Complete Medupi Chimneys and Kusile well one their way.

Dymot Engineering Company supplied VFD Driven Construction Winches which successfully completed the Chimneys at Medupi Power Station near Lephalale.
These winches were designed, manufactured, tested and commissioned by Dymot and have performed above therequirements of the client.
The winches was powered by a 90kW 3 Phase Electric Motor and a 110kW VFD Drive.
The System was also fitted with a 100% Breaking Resistor to dissipate the heat when lowering to prevent Regeneration.
The winches were used for Goods and Man Hoisting and could achieve speeds up to 81m/min at 50kN Capacity. This winch was fitted with dual brakes, one hydraulic and one Electromagnetic and with safety devices including an overspeed device.
The winch could be operated at low or high speeds via the VFD and the motor could be held at 0Hz at full Torque ensuring no runback when the brakes are released.
The towers topped out at just over 220m and is a spectacular site to witness.
