In June, a team from Aquapump headed to Frankfurt, Germany for the tri-annual ACHEMA Expo, which attracts thousands of people and exhibitors in the pump industry. ACHEMA is also the world-wide forum for the chemical engineering and process industries.

 

Attending ACHEMA is something we’re used to at Aquapump, having never missed an event for about two decades. As usual this year’s expo was not to be missed, so we gathered a team and headed to Europe for a week of visiting suppliers, manufacturers and trainers. It’s the perfect way to stay on the pulse of everything to do with the pumps industry. The expo grows year upon year, and we have certainly seen it go from strength to strength over the years.

 

A whopping 166,444 people from all over the world attended ACHEMA. There were 3,813 exhibitors from 56 countries. This is an expo that simply cannot be covered in a day or two – and we were in it for the long-haul! As a leading pump supplier and distributor in South Africa, we found it imperative that we attend ACHEMA, soaking up all the latest info and tech training we could. We believe that to stay current, attending events such as these helps us to keep up with the latest trends in pump technology and innovation.

 

This year’s expo had a strong emphasis on sustainability, environmentally friendly pumps, as well as energy efficiency. These are things we uphold at Aquapump, and so it was fantastic to be surrounded by companies and people that embraced the same values in tech.

 

“The pump industry is constantly in flux”, says Cliff Topper, Managing Director of Aquapump, “So it is great to be able to meet with all the right people in one place. We get to meet our suppliers face to face and get a handle on who does what and where.”

 

The trip was a great success and one the Aquapump team won’t soon forget. “There were so many highlights”, Cliff explains. “Seeing all the friends I have made during six visits to ACHEMA over a twenty year period. The dinner with PSG executives at one of Frankfurt’s top Italian restaurants was really good! Cocktails with ARO pumps, and then the launch of the new ABAQUE peristaltic pump range by PSG.

 

“The professionalism of the suppliers from Europe and USA really stood out for us. They offer such great service to enable their distributors to be successful. All in all, the trip was well worth it!”

 

The next ACHEMA expo is in three years’ time, taking place in June 2018.
