Company Description
Precismeca began operations in 1947 at Sulzbach, Germany, initially repairing, then manufacturing conveyor rolls for the underground coal and potash mines of the Saar region. A sister company was established in Saverne, France in 1959, followed by manufacturing facilities in various countries around the world.
During this time, the product line expanded to include pulleys and other conveyor related equipment.
Today, Precismeca manufactures in Nisku Canada, Saverne France, in Germany at Leipzig and under licence in other countries.
Before 1975, Precismeca Germany and France supplied product to many North American customers such as Great Canadian Oil Sands (now Suncor), St. Lawrence Cement Company, Iron Ore Company, and Alwinsal Potash (now P.C.S. Lanigan).
In 1975, Precismeca Canada began production in Edmonton to supply all the initial idler requirements for the new Syncrude tarsand mine in northern Alberta. Operations were moved in 1979 to a new plant in Nisku Industrial P
