CCR-1B
Line Analyzer
and Cable Radar
__________________________________________________
The CCR-1B is a portable multi-function test instrument designed specifically for locating and diagnosing faults in telephony or other twisted pair networks. Engineered for Field Service personnel, the CCR-1B is rugged and easy to use and can be upgraded with optional functions to meet changing network demands.
The basic unit provides a complete set of function for the Field Service Technician:
· Cable Radar using a Time-Domain Reflectometer (TDR)
· Voltmeter
· Ohmmeter
· Ammeter
· Capacitance (Open) Meter
· Transmission Impairment Measurement (TIM) set
· Frequency sweep that detects load coils
· Return Loss measurement
· Balance and Longitudinal Balance
This basic functionality can be upgraded with the following options:
· Digital Subscriber Loop (DSL) test set for ISDN, HDSL, ADSL, etc.
· A Dial Pad with speaker
· RS-232 for data transfer to a PC or printer
Designed for both the novice and experienced technician, the CCR-1B features:
· Help screens
· Memory for storing captured data
· High resolution extended temperature LCD display
· Comfortable and rugged leather carrying case with test leads
· Battery charger adapter
Cable Radar (TDR)
Identifies and locates opens, shorts, bridge taps, load coils and other line impairments. Line responses are shown graphically identifying the type of fault and its distance. In analyze mode, the CCR-1B identifies and labels impedance mismatches as likely to be an open/short circuit, bridge, or an impedance mismatch. Readings can be compared to captured data stored in memory and can be displayed either in dual trace mode or as the algebraic difference of the two waveforms.
Volt-Ohm-Capacitance Meter
These functions are auto ranging to display maximum resolution. Ohmmeter and Capacitance meters are also auto zeroing and the Ohmmeter has enhanced protection from external voltages. The Voltmeter displays both DC and AC (rms). The Ohmmeter converts resistance to distance with temperature compensation. The Capacitance meter automatically calculates distance to an open circuit.
Balance
The CCR-1B computes a balance measurement based on Power influence [Pi] and Noise metallic [Nm] readings. In Longitudinal Balance mode, the CCR-1B generates its own Pi to compute Balance.
Transmission Impairment Measurement (TIM)
Provides the tools required to qualify a wire loop. The Signal Generator has a range of 100 Hz to 8 kHz from -65 to +6 dBm. The Level Meter function provides a 3kHz flat measurement, a frequency counter and a C-notch S/N measurement.
Return Loss
Measures Return Loss by doing a frequency sweep with selectable 600, 900 and 1200 W source resistance.
Frequency Sweep (ZLINE)
Displays impedance versus frequency by doing a frequency sweep of the line. The line impedance sweep detects and counts load coils and detects aberrations in the transmission characteristics of the loop.
CCR-1B Options
DSL
An upgrade module providing greater flexibility when working with DSLs. The DSL Tone Generator has a range from 1 kHz to
1.2 MHz with levels from -20 to +10 dBm. The DSL Level Meter has a frequency counter and true rms detector with selectable ISDN, HDSL and ADSL filters.
Dial Pad
Upgrade function allows the Field Technician to dial Central Office equipment to access test tones or "quiets", and then to switch to the Level Meter. Pulse and tone dialing, versatile phone number memory and speaker with volume control are provided.
RS-232
Upgrade option which allows data transfer to a printer or PC. Line responses are stored in memory for later transfers with a time stamp and cable/pair ID.
