Colorimeters
Colorimeters such are tristimulus instruments used primarily for Quality Control applications. They are used mainly to insure samples fall within color tolerances set by a user.
BC-10 Colorimeter
The BC-10 handheld baking contrast meter measures the color of baked, fried, smoked, and processed foods. It can also monitor and control the color of these products’ ingredients, ensuring consistency in the appearance of the goods. The durable BC-10 is compact, lightweight, and fits comfortably in your hand. It can be battery powered and includes a wrist strap for optimum portability. An AC adapter can also be used, if preferred. This instrument is designed for contact measurements, guaranteeing reliable and precise results. The BC-10 is not affected by lighting conditions and eliminates the inconsistencies in “human eye” subjectivity. It is so fast and simple to use, even first-time users can operate the BC-10. TO use: first, switch on; second, perform white tile calibration; third, place on product and press button; lastly, measurement results are displayed immediately on the screen. The LCD display shows the baking contrast units, which is the measure of the lightness or darkness of a product. This measurement system was developed specifically for the food industry. BCU is a derivative of the “L” value in standard tristimulus colorimetry. The range is from 0 for the darkest and 5.25 for the lightest. Each change of .1 BCU equals approximately one discernable shade to the human eye. The screen also displays an averaging function. This means that the BC-10 takes as many measurements as required and calculates the average. The device can store up to 16 readings at a time. The BC-10 also includes some convenient functions such as protective window inserts which allow direct contact without the need of a cell, petri dish, or test tube. Another function is its optional RS-232 output cable which allows it to be connected to a computer, printer, or storage device to save information or print it.
CA-310 Color Analyzer
Building on the benefits offered by the Display Color Analyzer CA-210, the CA-310 offers even higher accuracy when measuring the LED-backlit LCD TVs which are becoming more and more popular. Although conventional backlights such as fluorescent lamps provide relatively uniform light, the spectral emission distribution of LEDs varies slightly with each unit. The CA-310 overcomes this problem with color sensors that more closely match the CIE 1931 color-matching functions, offering higher measurement accuracy while providing high measurement speed even at low luminances.
CR-400 Chroma Meter
The CR-400 handheld chroma meter is the successor to, and compatible with, the CR-300. Existing data can be used, making upgrading easy for current CR-300 owners.
The unit is easy-to-use and can store up to 1,000 measurements internally, or 2,000 when the data processor is connected. The CR-400 is portable, features an 8mm aperture, and has the ability to be used in various applications to measure different types of products and multiple kinds of surfaces.
The compact, lightweight data processor is battery operated (or can be connected by AC adapter) and enables users to print results on-site for easy labeling. The CR-400 series features a user index function allowing customers to configure evaluation and color calculation formulas as desired. This feature is extremely useful when industry-specific or customized formulas are used instead of the versatile color system and standard evaluation formula (L*a*b*).
The instrument’s LCD screen is capable of displaying color-difference graphs, pass/fail information, and can be set in any of six different languages (English, Spanish, Japanese, Italian, German, and French). User’s comments can be typed into the results or channel names can be determined by the customer using the data processor. A variety of accessories are available to accommodate various target types such as liquids, powders, and pastes.
This instrument is compatible with SpectraMagic NX software which is easy-to-use and displays multiple views of data results which can be edited. Target data of the primary target can be associated to two or more secondary targets, allowing for sophisticated QC applications, such as checking for color difference.
Users can drag-and-drop information into the software for easy interpretation after printing. A variety of graphs can be used to display information, preconfigured templates are available, and a status window is available to show instrument information at a glance. Data compiled with older software is compatible and can be transferred to the newest updated software. If Excel is needed to show data, the information can also be easily exported. A Navigation Function and Color Tutorial are included with the software for additional information.
