The laboratory was established in Salford during March 1990 as part of the rapidly expanding group of Bodycote testing laboratories.
The client base now exceeds 700 and the range of services has expanded considerably. In an increasingly competitive market, the laboratory offers a reliable, quality service to meet the increasing demands for fast turn around of work at competitive prices.
North-West laboratory has specialised in the testing of heavy duty corrosion protection of pipelines, in particular for British Gas and the UK Water industry. The testing includes both artificial and natural weathering, salt spray facilities, coating thickness, gloss, adhesion and performance testing.
The laboratory also offers mechanical testing services including tensile, elevated temperature tensile, impact, bend testing, fracture test, macro examination and hardness.
Chemical analysis is carried out using an Optical Emission Spectrometer covering most common alloy types, supplemented with gas analysis for N2 and O2.
Other services include intergrannular and pitting corrosion tests for stainless steels. The laboratory has a well-equipped metallography suite capable of handling the most challenging failure analysis.
