EngNet Launches Engineering Forums

Wednesday, 1 November, 2000

Well, this time the EngNet team has really added some exceptional value to its website!
A Forums section that is specifically designed for the engineering industry.

I hear some of you saying:
"What good is a forum!", "They don't work nobody uses them", "Not another one"...

When we were looking at the next section that EngNet needed to add, we studied the market and found that forums were either complicated to use or a little too basic.

The concept of a forum is brilliant and under utilised. Every day thousands of Engineers have questions that they want answers to. I can remember several instances where I was designing a new project and there would be numerous design questions I had due to the uniqueness of the project. Whether it’s putting an aircraft warning light on a 60m stack, or having to ask what your professional liability as an Engineer is. These questions are endless and need to be answered everyday and there are professional specialists around the world that have the answers.

So, we decided there is definitely a need for an Engineering forum. Now the question remained, "How can we make it work like it should?"

Our answer is "FORUM WATCH".

What is this Forum Watch feature?
EngNet's Forum Watch feature is a service that will keep an eye on the forums and topics that you select, and then email you whenever someone starts a new discussion pertaining to your selection. EngNet's Forum Watch service means that you don't have to continually check the forums to see if any new discussions have started. You'll be emailed whenever new discussions are started in any of the forums that you select.

Companies listed with EngNet can subscribe to the Forum Watch service. If you're already subscribed, the service will notify you when there are new discussions in the forums that you might find interesting, based on the products and services that your company provides.

How it Works
1. Register as an EngNet Forums user, or login if you're already registered. 2. Select the forums and topics you want Forum Watch to keep an eye on. 3. Forum Watch will send you a notification email the moment a new discussion has begun. How Much Does it Cost? EngNet's Forums and the Forum Watch feature are absolutely free. We want this service to be really successful and for that we need you, the engineering industry to get involved and really use this service. You have no excuse, because it costs you nothing, only the time to use it, which will be recouped through a more efficient project. How Can Forums Further Benefit Companies on EngNet?
If you as a company keep a watch out for users looking for help in the areas in which your company specializes, and you respond to them successfully you have opened a sales opportunity. Your company can supply not only advice but also your products and services for the users’ application.

If this is all Free how does EngNet make Money?
This is a very good question. EngNet offers Free listings for companies in its Buyers Guide/Directory as well free access to the EngNet Forums. The answer is that in our Buyers Guide we also offer a paid Full listing option that provides companies with greater exposure to the Engineering Industry (click here for an example). We also provide specifically engineering website design services to the Engineering Industry. To find out more about these additional services please email sales@engnetglobal.com

I would be grateful for your comments on the EngNet Forums, email me at MCooney@engnetglobal.com.
