A&T imports Trinidad Lake Asphalt and manufactures Trinidad Chemical Resistant Linings (TCRL) at works in Johannesburg. A&T also specialises in installation of T.C.R.L. and most other chemical and water resistant linings such as epoxy, vinyl esters and PU systems as well as acid bricks and other specified linings and coatings. We believe that in order to supply the best quality and most durable product, that carry a guarantee, we need to use our expertly trained application crews combined with our state of the art manufacturing skills.
Lining
One of the first problems to manifest itself in the chemical industry was the corrosion of the concrete structures in chemical plants. The use of Trinidad Chemical Resistant Lining is widespread and has many advantages. These are classified under three headings:- Heavy Industrial Lining
- Acid and Alkali - Resistant Lining
- Spark Proof or Inert Lining
All these Linings are manufactured and laid in accordance with the relevant British Standard BS 6925 (1988) and Code CP204 (1951).
Trinidad floors are joint less, odourless, dustless and resilient. They are ideal for use inside or outside and can take very heavy traffic. They are not nearly so noisy as concrete and are not liable to crack or crumble with heavy wear.
Because Trinidad is totally impervious to water it makes ideal flooring for cold rooms, food processing, dairy produce premises and others, where the floor is continually wet.
ACID AND ALKALI RESISTANT LINING (TCRL)
Trinidad can be made acid and alkali resistant, by the use of certain aggregates and fillers in its manufacture. This type of asphalt is known as Trinidad Chemical Resistant Lining (TCRL) and floors of this material are commonly used in breweries, dairies, wineries and chemical plants.
SPARKPROOF LINING
Special grades of gritless and or lead and lime free floors can be manufactured and laid for use in buildings where explosives and volatile gases are handled, such floors reduce the risk of sparking to an absolute minimum and have a high electrical resistance value.
GENERAL NOTES ON TRINIDAD LINING
Specifications for TCRL vary considerably with the purpose for which the floor is required; some of the factors which have an influence on the specification are the expected temperature of the room in which the floor is to be installed. In wet processes the degree of non slip required should be decided. The expected chemical spillage and cleaning materials used in the plant must be taken into account and the mix designed accordingly
